Goals

In September 2000, many of the world's leaders came together at the UN headquarters in New York and formalised the UN Millennium Declaration. This declaration, which was endorsed by 189 countries, recogised the importance of all countries developing global partnerships that aimed to reduce extreme poverty by 2015 through the achievement of the Millennium Developement Goals (MDGs) that aim to reduce poverty, hunger and disease, address lack of adequate shelter and access to health care, while promoting gender equality, health education and environmetal sustainability.
